Hansel’s eyes focus on Gretel. He is weary, but alert—fully in the world once more.
Gretel breaks from her trance, all attention on Hansel.
GRETEL: Hansel? You’re awake!

GRETEL: How do you feel?
HANSEL: I’m hungry. So very hungry. Have I been sick?
GRETEL: You had an awful fever. But you’re going to be all right now.
Hansel looks shocked by his own hunger.
HANSEL: Oh, Gretel, I’ve never been so hungry!
GRETEL: That’s good, Hansel. That’s natural after a fever.
